Public Goods Essay We are very much familiar with this line â€Å"I believe the children are our future, teach them well and let them lead the way†. Children are considered the hope of every nation for they will soon become our leaders. We all want our children to get everything they deserve to get, receive fair treatment and have high quality education because this will help them contribute to the welfare of the society, they are a good investment. But not all parents have the capacity to provide even the most basic needs of their children. Sometimes we wish children were just valued as a public good. A public good is a term used by economists to refer to a product (i. e. , a good or service) of which anyone can consume as much as desired without reducing the amount available for others. ( Public Goods: A Brief Introduction). Myra Stober suggested in her article that children must be raised and guided collectively so the nation as a whole will benefit from them not just their parents. If that happens, equality among children can be accomplished and the nation will prosper a lot from them. However, if this will be implemented it can lead to market failure where uncoordinated markets driven by parties working in their own self interest are unable to provide these goods in desired quantities. (Wikipedia) Considering children as a public good is only an alternative and should not be considered the best solution because is not the best remedy to proper child care. Meeting their needs cannot be done in a snap because it takes a lot of consideration to do so. Â · Agencies and media buying services want to be profitable so they remain viable – for an agency their main source of income is from providing advertisement services that business can purchase. By looking at the clients point of view and the agencies there is a clear underline that in some cases these two above issues can lead to disagreements, but this can be avoided through negotiating before any work is carried out by the agencies like for example negotiating payments, services etc. Advantages One of the main advantages of an agency would be that some agency would execute and develop an entire promotional campaign from scratch to completion, the agency does this through relating the clients (BA) needs with the promotion campaign of the service of BA this enables the client to be assured that its needs are met. An agency also takes a good part of developing and planning media so that the clients (BA) promotional campaign of their services gets maximum communication effectiveness, this means in other words that an agency would do its best to promote the clients service advertisement to get awareness of BA’s target audiences. Â · Once the media plan is in place, the advertiser such as in this case BA knows what they will be paying their agency and the agency knows what it will be receiving. Â · Putting pressure on an agency to keep its costs reasonably is the best method of making sure that the agency gets carried away with the clients money to advertise. Â · An agency offers to its clients creativity this means new ways of looking at advertising this could help because a company like BA after so many years of advertising could loose its advertising appeal, this is where advertising agencies are a key contributor because they offer never ending creativity. Great Gatsby Corruption

Possibly one of F. Scott Fitzgerald's most astonishing work, The Great Gatsby is not just a magnificent story, but an insightful lesson of society's flaws during the 1920's. Fitzgerald's novel creates an atmosphere of superficiality, dissatisfaction and dishonesty by the depictive illustration of each character's defect. With economical growth, the immoral society of the twenties ultimately brought corruption to the American Dream of achieving prosperity. At the end of the first chapter, the green light at the end of Daisy's dock is introduced, the symbol for hope and a promising future for the Great Gatsby. In the second chapter however, the reader is presented with the, â€Å"†¦ valley of ashes†¦ where ashes take the form of houses and chimneys and rising smoke and finally†¦ of men who move dimly and already crumbling through the powdery air† . The valley of ashes can be interpreted as the superficial and dirt-filled materialistic world that the characters live in. The author's great use of imagery helps accentuate the setting and the crumbling foundation of society. In Fitzgerald's novel, Gatsby is labeled as â€Å"new money†. Having come from no wealthy background, and building his fortunes early in life, Gatsby nearly fulfills all the aspects of the American Dream with hard work, courage and determination but comes short by not achieving satisfaction from prosperity. Money was the critical reagent to Gatsby's corruption that unfolds when he describes Daisy. â€Å"Her voice is full of money† . Often identified as a symbol of wealth, Daisy was Gatsby's main goal. Gatsby had an enormous need to impress Daisy with his riches; his tainted mind could only offer what he had acquired all these years, money.

We, as students, would attend that specific religion’s place of worship to observe their rituals and routines. Then after service we would conduct an interview with the participants to answer our personal questions such as â€Å"Why do they do the things they do?† or â€Å"How often do they do this?† I chose to study Christianity even though I am a Christian. I thought it would be interesting to see if most Christian churches practice Christianity the same way. However, prior to attending services I researched the history of Christianity. Firstly, Jesus was Jewish and he would teach in different synagogues throughout the villages he travelled to. While in those villages Jesus would also heal those who were suffering. In his teachings he touched the hearts of the people and this created instability which frightened Jewish religious authorities. A group of men who Jesus touched sta rted to follow and became his disciples. Jesus taught them about the will of God; as well as about a â€Å"new covenant† that God will bring to humanity through Himself, Jesus Christ. Then, Jesus helped the disciples to see mankind is destined to have pain and feel the â€Å"futility of life† due to sin.
